MT Medic is amazing! But it runs so slowly on my setup that I can’t use most of the features… is this a known flaw when you get to a certain size? (we’re huge - almost a dozen blogs and 20 - some authors)

I wouldn’t be surprised if MTMedic was slow on a large system. It is intended as an emergency tool, so I haven’t done any kind of optimization. However, a dozen blogs and 20 authors doesn’t sound all that large to me — assuming you’re running this on a database (MySQL or Postgres) and do not use the default DBFile.

Does MTMedic work with unix/linux servers with a Windows client?
I haven’t been able to get it to work: error message received - “The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers.”
Yes, other cgi executables work.
$Admin password command may not work on this server. Any way to confirm?

Hiya - so I noticed recently that when you edit “authors”, all the people who are authorized to comment on your blog come up as “authors”… this kinda clutters my interface… any way around it?

Help. Fine application but for some reason it doesn’t do anything. When I add a new author the application doesn’t complain and even tells me: “The profile of author x has been updated.” and when I change the permissions it does something similar just loading the page that displays permissions (which is empty) and the three buttons ‘save changes’ ‘pick another author’ & ‘pick another blog’. If I choose any of the buttons it just reloads the page. I am not currently locked out of MT but I have no admin priviledges for the current author so I really can’t do very much within MT.

I have to admit - I see no value at all in displaying all the comments authors…. is there any way to get rid of this? It’s really hard to wade through them all!

Seriously, displaying the comments authors is TERRIBLE. It makes it almost impossible to do real author maintenence.

MTMedic is an MT 2.x era script and works fine with that version.
In version 3, MT started storing comment athors in the same table as blog authors (an, er, interesting design decision) and that’s why the Autor listing gets large for MT 3 installations.
It shouldn’t be too dificult to modify MTMedic to only show non-comment authors - but I don’t have MT3 installed to do it.
Feel free to post a patch if you come up with a good way of doing it.

I noticed that a lot of people here were getting the 500 error. I was too, until I made my password simpler (no $’s or !’s)

I’m having the same problem that mjulius had (post 70). I got MT-Medic set up just fine, and I can view my MT info, but even though the interface says that it’s updated author profiles, the changes disappear immediately.
Anyone else have this problem and manage to fix it?

Hello, I am getting this error when I try to add an author:
An error occurred:
Invalid author id ‘0’ at mt-medic.cgi line 746.
I did a fresh install of MT yesterday and when I tried to login with the generic user/pswd it said invalid user not found. So at the MT forums they recommended MT-Medic which looks to be a good plugin but I still cannot login to MT, any help would be great!
