Talk about being overzealous. This BoingBoing Article slams the MPAA for allegedly “ripping off software”. Now I have no love for the MPAA and their invasive anti-piracy crusades, but this seems to be a completely appropriate use in the spirit of “free software”.

This script in question, according to the script author’s notice, is “free for any use” but requests a “link to i-code.co.uk for any redistribution”. The MPAA site is using the script but not redistributing (i.e. in a derivative work).

I know Cory Doctorow loves to rant about the MPAA, but this is simply ridiculous. As someone who’s heavily involved with the EFF, he should (and probably does) know better. Stuff like this dilutes legitimate complaints of his.
