Midterm Morning
I don't really follow sports much but sometimes I can empathize with the highs and lows fans get based on their teams' success. This morning I was put in a great mood when I fired up the computer and saw the sweeping election results. I hadn't really expected a Senate take over - hoped, yes, but not expected, so even those results looked encouraging (and apparently prevailed).
I got a little bummed out about some of the races (Lieberman winning in CT, for example), but over all, what a thrill. And despite being a bleeding heart, I am glad that many of the democratic gains came from pragmatic "centrist" candidates in (formerly?) red states. Hopefully the Dems won't waste the opportunities they now have.
We watched the elections on Comedy Central's Midtacular, but maybe I should have watched some of it on Fox News as the writer of this brilliant Fox: Just "a standard election" article did.

The election results and Rummy's resignation have been really satisfying nationally and in Kansas of all places - a new Democrat senator, the govenor was re-elected handily and the totally obtuse attorney general, Phil Kline, lost by a large margin (achieved notoriaty recently courtesy of Bill O'Relly). Now the new players and power configurations need to make the most of it. Nancy Pelosi sounded a good note last night in an interview - hope she can stick with it.
