Haircut
Magda has had a full head of hair since pretty much her birth and it only keeps getting longer. Grandma Rita trimmed her bangs a couple of times, but not really noticeably, and the hair keeps falling into Magda's eyes, as this picture from a week ago shows.
We decided to trim her bangs a bit more. I figured it couldn't be all that hard -- Rita can do it and my mom used to do it, so why not us? We sat Magda into her highchair in the kitchen (cutting hair over carpet would be pretty inane) and set to work. Except, it wasn't easy at all. Magda kept wriggling, I couldn't pick up her bangs with a comb and was afraid to get close to her face with scissors (not that we have hair-cutting scissors). So I decided to use my beard trimmer.
Well, the wriggling continued and I only managed to hit her bangs twice before Jennifer recoilled in horror and Magda got too cranky to continue. Magda now looks like some war refugees with her partially cut, short uneven bangs. But they stay out of her eyes and she still looks cute as hell. I'm not sure that Jennifer will ever let me try this again.

The poor little thing! That looks like some of the haircuts I had when I was her age (although I think I was fatter). You keep thinking this child-raising thing is easy and that the rest of us are all paranoid worriers and idjits--when will you learn it's not that way? Hopefully before the next haircut . . . :-)

She does look cute. Although if I remember correctly, Elizabeth hated that haircut. Besides that, Lita Rita's going to be mad at you for taking her job away!
As I told Jennifer, I blame the whole fiasco on Rita. She must have been too timmid last time she trimmed Magda's bangs (or they grow really fast -- which, right now, wouldn't be a bad thing).
I've since Googled cutting kids hair and found some mentioning of trimming bangs 1/2 inch above the eye brows. I guess I went above and beyond a little.
She does look adorable! FREE ADVICE: Next time, if there ever is one, cut her bangs while she's asleep.
I am not mad, but don't ever let it happen again. I do agree with you Stepan, she is still amazingly cute, crooked bangs and all. When I was doing the cutting I was striving for a look that would NOT say; "hey look at me, I just got my hair cut!"
