Eminem: Mosh

I don't watch M-TV or listen to pop music on a regular basis. But I do find the slowly growing resurgence of political protest music interesting. I think it's healthy and good to rock the boat a little and to make the music consumers think about the important issues that are happening.

Eminem's Mosh and the accompanying video is stark, unapologetic and outspoken. And at the same time subtle and despite its anger hopeful.

It's definitely not "Blowing in the Wind"...

The video is strangely motivating and empowering. I have to give Eminem some credit, although given his past records, this feels a little like he's cashing in. I guess I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

The same could be said for one of my favorite bands, A Perfect Circle. They're releasing an album of mostly covers on Election Day next week called eMOTIVe. It includes covers of songs like John Lennon's "Imagine" and Fear's "Let's Have A War". Check it out on their site. Their news page has links to two different videos, both of which are very critical of the Bush administration.

They're also making a song from the album available each day between now and Tuesday here.
