So Jfer's now about a week post term (she prefers this to "overdue") -- although, strictly speaking, she's at term for first-time moms who on average deliver 8 days past the (arbitrary?) 40 weeks. We're starting to get a bit antsy about having Junior make his or her move, since the Dr. doesn't want us to go more than 42 weeks. So we're exploring way to speed things up and we'll see how it goes.

Actually, we do not want Junior to show up today or tomorrow, since our Doula has another client who's water just broke. I assume Seasha will be available to us after the weekend, so a Monday or Tuesday arrival would be perfect. I'm kind of hoping for Tuesday for a couple of reasons. For one, October 5 is our wedding anniversary so this would leave one less date for me to remember and I'd have a present for Jennifer (or rather, vice versa). The other thing is that I picked October 5 in our book group birth-date pool, so I stand to make a $10 profit if Jfer holds out till then.

We had a couple of Dr's meetings this week and things still look good. The ultrasound nurse expressed some concern about a low amnio fluid index, but after Jfer rested on her side, the AFI was in normal range. Jfer had another stress test and the baby's doing what it's supposed to be doing.

Interesting Stuff: I was aware that amniotic fluid is, to a large extent, "baby pee". It is originally produced by the placenta, amniotic membranes, umbilical cord, and the fetus' skin and lungs. I did not know that the baby helps develop its digestive system by swallowing the amniotic fluid and then peeing it back out, recycling all the fluid every four hours!

Personally, if I had to drink my urin on a continuous basis, I think I would want to be born sooner rather than later...

I have just one word for you: jumping jacks. Or maybe that's two words. And I can't tell how averse to this suggestion Elizabeth was when she was getting a little late with Kayleigh.

On the other hand, you won't believe how trivial this problem will seem in about two weeks.

Naughty Daddy! I can't believe you have the gall to say that AGAIN, knowing that should a third one come our way that you are *not* allowed to come until the baby does. Las Vegas is obviously having a bad influence on you .

However, he is right about the other point.

Don't forget you also have the option of calling on Jan for help re "speeding things along" if doctor placation is required. Remember, no one ever stayed pregnant forever!

I love the part about not having to remember the dates. Don't you just love that, Jfer? At least it would be a guarantee that he'd remember the anniversary. Or maybe not. Who can tell?

Hehe!

SEX!!! Sex will get Jr out!

Think of it as dad's first opportunity to say, "Get up! You're late!!!"

Yeah, yeah, yeah. We're well aware that semen contains prostaglandins which promote efacement and dilation of the cervix. Not to mention the release of oxytocin.

But there is always that lingering thought: Is Junior watching? And if so, will he or she get poked in the eye?!?

Mermu said:

Oh geez. They baby's not even born yet and you are already "babying" him. What's a little bitty poke in the eye?

Mermu said:

And NO! I didn't mean it like that!!
