Doing My Part for the Economy
After having read tons and tons of reviews, and putting my grubby hands on floor models at several local Best Buy and Fry's, I decided to look for a deal, ASAP. Disappointingly--but not surprisingly--all the online prices were pretty much the same and Best Buy just refused to be running any of their long-term financing specials.
Luckily in a review forum someone mentioned out a special at CompUSA. Sure enough, this week's "one week only" special savings included 10% off of digital cameras above a certain price (easily met, I'm afraid) as well as 18 months no interest financing! That was even better than what I was hoping to get.
So right before lunch I headed over to the nearest CompUSA, walked past the "Digital Rebel Is Here!" fliers up to the counter, caressed the camera on display and told them to gimme one just like it. The guy said sure thing, looked around for a couple of minutes and told me they were all out. Oy! The other stores in Austin were out. Vey! He might be able to get his manager to bring one in from San Antonio(!) within a couple of days. Then he checked with the manager on the phone and found out that the display model had been put out less than 15 minutes earlier and offered it to me.
I jumped on it and, just to be sure, got the "we replace the camera even if you break it through your own fault" warranty. I charged the battery at work, so now I'm looking forward to playing with it tonight. We'll see how well the pictures from Jfer's next triathlon will turn out.

Congratulations--I know you've been coveting that for a while. Try not to let Jfer drop this one .
